Sanny de Zoete’s passion for antique linen damask led her to begin creating her own, modern collection of Dutch Design Damask table linen in 2001. The collection now includes more than ten different designs, each woven in pure linen damask. Most linen damask is woven in ivory white, but coloured linen is also possible.
Sanny has acquired the exclusive rights to take the linen damask designs by the Dutch artist Chris Lebeau (1878–1945) into production again. This means that it is once more possible to purchase the Butterfly, Apple, Tomato, Refraction and Peacock designs, as well as the coloured damask Margotje. Each design has been accurately reconstructed based on the original drawings.
The renowned contemporary Dutch artist Peter Struycken created the modern Grid 2001 design especially for Sanny, and Dutch textile designer Karijn Otjes created food for thought at the table with Let’s talk! Sanny has also reinstated the incredibly popular classic Grapevines pattern, based on a 19th century drawing.
Special Communion damask has been created for churches, including Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper. Would you like to see your family’s coat of arms, your initials, a certain year or a favourite text woven into a tablecloth, or would you rather design your own pattern or have a pattern created especially for you? That too is possible; please see Your personal design.
Pure linen damask
This special collection of table linen sees the beautiful, stylish patterns rendered in the highest-quality, pure linen damask. The linen is produced in an Irish linen-weaving mill acknowledged to be one of the best in the world. The durability of the material means that the damask will form a valuable family heirloom that retains its excellent quality, generation after generation. Linen is very strong, has a beautiful sheen, is grown without the use of pesticides and deserves our renewed attention. Plus, even after 450 washes, the linen is still beautiful.
Woven to fit your table
Every tablecloth is woven to the exact size of the client’s table, so that the border and corner patterns form an integral part of the design. Our Irish weaver is unique in being able and willing to weave on such a small scale as weavers normally only make mass-produced articles, which means that tablecloths are cut to size from long rolls with the same, repeating, pattern, or that a hundred tablecloths are produced in the same size and with the same pattern. However, we are able to weave a single tablecloth in a design selected by you, to fit your table exactly. We do this for churches with tables over six metres long, or for clients looking for a round tablecloth for their dining room. We are able to weave round, oval, elliptical or even triangular tablecloths to size. Give us the dimensions of your table and we will produce a beautifully-fitting tablecloth.
The whole works
Sanny’s collection includes tablecloths, runners and table napkins. The tablecloths are available in any length and up to a width of 285 cm. The table napkins are woven in various sizes, from 40 x 40 cm to 75 x 75 cm. Runners are available in the following sizes: 50 x 130 cm, 60 x 130 cm and 70 x 140 cm. Other sizes are also available on request. Runners are useful for everyday and allow you to set the table for a meal together without having to clear the whole table.
