After its restoration, Groeneveld Castle was also partly refurnished, and this included the linen room. Sanny provided over 700 pieces of linen damask on long-term loan: hundreds of household cloths, dozens of damask tablecloths, over 100 napkins, about 30 bedsheets and 60 pillowcases. The linen damask was placed in neat piles in the linen cabinet, as it should be, on cabinet cloths with a handmade lacework edging. At the top right, the embroidered sheets for the guests.
Mmm, how wonderful, to sleep in a castle on a bed made up with such beautiful sheets. Who doesn’t dream of that? And perhaps that prince will come calling on his white horse….
Sanny de Zoete developed the concept and arranged the linen and damask in the linen cabinet using pieces from her private collection. Groeneveld Castle in Baarn, September 2012 – December 2015
